I always was told that using a refractometer was the most the most accurate (specifically Brix) to measure ABV. I tried 5 calculators and all are different, especially when I try to use gravity and brix combined as some calculators do. I will use sean terrill's for now but would like to honesty get a accurate reading at some point.

Since my FFT gravity correction was spot on, I assume the calculator I used is working properly. Is there a reason the beer refractometer and hydrometer readings were off? I would assume with the wort correction factor and using Sean Terrill's calculator the batch gravity readings should have matched.

For me, the Sean Terrill web page that Vikeman referenced was very illuminating. Maybe you'll find it worthwhile. There's some discussion of the correction factor, which is also adjustable in Brewcipher. FWIW, on a IPA sort of recipe I brewed the other week the hydrometer and refractometer SG readings on the wort actually matched at about 1.07 . Another two thumbs up for Sean Terrill's calculator. I checked the results of his calculator vs hydrometer for a number of beers; the calculator is quite accurate: I compared readings on 19 beers, the standard deviation between by hydrometer and (corrected) refractometer readings is 0.0006.Sean Terrill hosts the refractometer calculator that I recommend. I think it's the most accurate of the calculators I've seen. If you're a math nerd, I encourage you to read the work that Sean did on his calculations to get his results that he based his formula on. Water Volume Summary: This double checks to make sure you’re mash parameters do not exceed the volume of water you practically have available. My refractometer reads this solution at only a wee scant tick below 10 BRIX, and on the SG scale it reads 1.038 to the best of my ability to discern it. On the Sean Terrill website 9.95 BRIX = 1.0382 SG, so for this single test case case my refractometer actually appears to be reading rather decently along both scales.
My own WCF here is about 0.99 or maybe 1.00. Others like Sean Terrill report an average of 1.04, which I have not been able to duplicate, at least not for MY refractometer. YMMV. OP, you forgot one thing. The SG scale is also off on that refractometer. I have the same one. It shows 31 Brix = 1.120 in the sight. That's way low. 31 Brix comes up as 1.128 on Sean Terrill's calculator, and even higher on some others. So, never use the SG scale on it, use his calculator, and you'll be fine.
